Finding the campground: From I-5, 45 miles south of Olympia, take exit 68 and head east on US 12. Drive 75 miles and turn left (north) onto FR 45 (10 miles past Packwood). In a bit less than 0.5 mile, FR 4510 takes off to the left (north). Take it, and continue for 7 miles to the campground at the end of the road.

The campground: Soda Springs is used mainly as a base camp for backpacking and hiking into the William O. Douglas Wilderness. Horses are not allowed in the wilderness area. The primitive camp sits alongside Summit Creek in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
